Nepal Evaluation Society held its 16th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on December 28, 2024. Out of 39 active members, which included those renewing their annual memberships as well as new members who joined on the AGM date, 22 attended in person at Nanglo Restaurant, Jhamsikhel, while 4 attended on-line. In total, 26 active members were present.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Bhuban Bajracharya, Chairperson of the Nepal Evaluation Society, welcomed the members in the AGM, and presented the agenda. As per the agenda, Mr. Jhank Narayan Shrestha, General Secretary of NES, presented the progress report for FY2080/81, as well as the annual program and budget for FY 2081/82 for endorsement and approval. The AGM suggested allocating some budget for networking purposes. With that remark, all documents were unanimously approved in the AGM.
During the AGM, Mr. Man Bahadur Lama, the Treasurer, presented the Audit Report for FY 2080/81, along with his Treasurer’s Report, both of which were unanimously approved.
The AGM also confirmed the appointment of the auditor, continuing with “H.L. Shrestha & Associates” for FY 2081/82.
In addition, the meeting provided updates on current NES activities including the organization of online talk series focused on capacity building in evaluation for the NES members. There is a similar training program for the use of Excel software for evaluation purposes, which is open to interested members and their guest non-members. NES is committed to sharing various information regarding capacity development opportunities and job vacancies obtained through its networks, particularly with the Asia Pacific Evaluation Association (APEA), and training program with National Planning Commission. Further, NES plans to conduct a training program on evaluation for Journalists from the Indigenous communities for which received a Germination Grant from APEA and funded through the Ford Foundation.
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Nepal Evaluation Society (NES) on December 16, 2023, besides unanimously approving the annual progress report of 1979/80,annual program and budget for 2080/81, and financial audit and treasurer’s report for 2079/80,appointment of the auditor for 2080/81 and the renewal process with the Kathmandu District Administration Office and the Kathmandu Metropolitan City, also approved the proposal to form a reserve fund, and to amend the Constitution on the quorum number at the time of annual and special general meetings.
The AGM also unanimously formed a new Executive Committee for three years beginning 2080/81. While welcoming the newly formed executive committee members, it thanked the out-going executive committee members for their contributions to the NES. It also thanked past chairperson of NES and former member of National Planning Commission Dr. Champak Pokharel, Chair of the Election Committee for successfully concluding the election process. The new Executive Committee consists of:
